About What’s Open Ontario

What’s Open Ontario is a simple website made to help the people of Ontario answer what should be a simple question: What’s open in Ontario on holidays?

Unfortunately the answer to that question isn’t always so clear. Ontario’s retail holidays aren’t all the same as Canada’s national statutory holidays. Some types of retailers are open on national holidays but closed on Ontario retail holidays, and vice-versa. Some retailers are exempt from holiday closures. And municipalities are free to set their own exceptions from the rules.

Until now, the people of Ontario have had to rely on local news stories to get the answer to what’s open and closed on the holiday weekend, or try their luck calling a store that doesn’t answer their phone anyway. What’s Open Ontario provides a simple, easy-to-use search engine that allows Ontarians to quickly find out what retail locations are open and closed on commonly searched holidays.
